Barcelona Still Keen On Signing Nico Williams

Barcelona are still in contention to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao ahead of the next transfer window.

Tensions between Athletic Club and Barcelona remain high following Joan Laporta's public pursuit of Athletic’s star winger, Nico Williams, over the summer.

These tensions are unlikely to ease soon, as Barcelona maintains its interest in the 22-year-old who could be making the move happen.

After Barcelona's second match of the season against Athletic, manager Hansi Flick was spotted sharing a light moment with Williams, a gesture that displeased Athletic's president, Jon Uriarte.

Recent reports indicate that Barcelona's interest in Williams remains strong as a possible place for the player.

Journalist Matteo Moretto has confirmed that he believes "Barcelona will still be an option" for Williams next summer.

According to Moretto, it’s premature to consider the transfer saga over, despite Williams’ decision to stay with Athletic this year.

Arsenal and Chelsea also made inquiries about the player during the summer, while Aston Villa has been linked to him at various times.

His release clause of €58 million is still in place and Williams is expected to be a prime target for any major club seeking a winger next summer.
