After dominating much of the first half, Mikel Arteta's side took the lead in the first minute of additional thanks to a header by Leandro Trossard.
Burnley got an unlikely equaliser on the 54 minute mark through Josh Bronwhill's strike which was cancelled out just three minute later by William Saliba.
Oleksandr Zinchenko extended Arsenal's lead with a superb scissor kick before Fabio Vieira was shown a straight red after 83 minute following a dangerous tackle on Brownhill.
